Lucy Durocher, PwC | Partner, National Accounting Consulting Services

Lucy Durocher, Class of 2005

My co-op terms at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as an Associate in their North York office auditing financial statements really prepared me well for my career.  The practical co-op aspect combined with the MMPA’s key role in teaching me effective case writing was a very important factor in becoming a gold medal winner (finishing first in Ontario) in my Chartered Accountancy Uniform Final Exam.”

Lucy Durocher is a partner in PwC's Accounting Consulting Services group in the Toronto office. Hailing from the United Kingdom, Lucy earned her first degree – an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Combined Social Sciences from the University of Durham.  From there, she gained a position as Associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Manchester, working for a year performing audits on financial statements.  Immigrating to Canada to be with her financé, Lucy was looking for an education that would further her goals in accounting.  She found the University of Toronto’s MMPA filled her Master’s needs and went beyond with a co-op component that dovetailed with her UK experience.

Lucy was a winner on more than one count.  She graduated from the MMPA from the University of Toronto Mississauga with an overall GPA of 3.9 (out of 4.0) earning a place on the Dean’s List.  She proved her worth by also earning a place on the ICAO Honour Roll for being one of the top 50 writers for the Chartered Accountancy Uniform Final Exam in Canada.  During her Masters Degree at the U of T, Lucy also earned the W. Barry Coutts prize for highest academic standing, a Faculty Scholarship for academic standing and overall contribution to the educational experience, and PricewaterhouseCoopers Award for academic excellence and leadership.

Nowadays, Lucy helps PwC's clients navigate the complexities of accounting standards and public company regulations. "I find it rewarding to solve tough accounting problems for our clients. Every day has a new challenge; every day I learn something new".
