Programs Overview

MMPA is a master’s level fast track to rewarding careers in professional accounting, finance and the broader business world.

The program combines an MBA curriculum with the development of technical and leadership skills that are vital for the accounting profession. In addition, paid co-op work terms and career-relevant case studies provide students with valuable real-world experience.

By the end of the program, MMPA graduates are equipped with versatile accounting and business expertise that enables them to thrive in an evolving career environment and make the jump into management.

Two streams, Endless Opportunities HeaderThe Two Year MMPA is open to students from all fields of study who have completed a 4-year undergraduate or graduate degree. There is a required 3-month prep term for students who have not completed an undergraduate degree focused on business or accounting. This prep term provides foundational business and accounting knowledge to help these students thrive in the MMPA. Learn more about the Two Year MMPA.

The One Year MMPA is open only to domestic students who complete their undergraduate degree in a Canadian university, specializing in accounting. Learn more about the One Year MMPA.

Accreditation Header

The MMPA program is accredited by CPA Ontario , giving our students a head start on obtaining their Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. MMPA graduates can move directly to the final module (Capstone 2) of the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) and then onto the CPA Common Final Exam (CFE).

MMPA is the only master’s degree that prepares students for all four CPA elective modules, making it the most efficient pathway for obtaining a master’s degree and a CPA designation.

Message from the director HeaderAs Director, I would like to thank you for your interest in the Master of Management & Professional Accounting (MMPA) program. The MMPA degree gives you a solid grounding in business and professional accounting expertise. If you are aiming for a career in management, this program can unlock exciting opportunities – whatever your academic background.

Many of our students start their studies with us with little or no background in business and/or accounting. We help these students get up to speed quickly with a 3-month prep term that equips them with foundational business and accounting knowledge in preparation for the MMPA program. Students who have studied accounting in their previous academic careers can enter our One Year MMPA and Two Year MMPA directly.

We are proud of our experiential approach to learning, which includes co-op work terms. Our students are able to immediately apply what they have learned in the classroom during these co-op placements and subsequently bring real-world lessons learned during the work terms back to the classroom. It is a wonderful way to learn.

Because we are accredited by CPA Canada and CPA Ontario, our students are allowed to bypass 5 of the 6 modules in the CPA Professional Education Program. This gives MMPA students significant advanced standing towards their CPA designation in Canada. Most of our graduates write their CPA examinations within 2 months of finishing their MMPA courses.

We have an incredible group of dedicated and internationally renowned faculty members as well as the best administrative staff. We are all here to help you achieve your goals. In addition, we attract and admit some of the most talented and capable students from all over the world. You will learn as much from your peers as you will from our faculty.

Come join us!

FAQs Header

Which admission requirement is given higher priority: my GMAT score, grades or essay?

All of these requirements are important and evaluated independently of each other.

Is it recommended that I take introductory courses in finance and accounting prior to entering the MMPA program?

If you have not studied business or accounting previously, you will be required to complete a 3-month prep term prior to starting the Two Year MMPA. We recommend that you refresh your math skills only if you have not taken a math course recently.

What are the undergraduate backgrounds for most of the students in the program?

Students who are admitted to our program come from a variety of undergraduate backgrounds, including arts, business, science, engineering, economics and others.

Can I apply to the program after a 3-year degree or does it need to be a 4-year degree?

A 4-year undergraduate degree is required. However, an applicant with a 3-year degree may complete a qualifying year of study. Normally, this requirement would be satisfied by taking the equivalent of a full year of senior-level undergraduate (third- or fourth-year) courses.

My Canadian university does not use letter grades. How can I assess whether I have the minimum mid-B GPA prior to applying for admission?

For Canadian universities, please use the OLSAS Undergraduate Grading System Conversion Table to guide you in determining whether you meet the minimum GPA requirements for our program.
