We are pleased to confirm that CPA Ontario's accreditation of the Master of Management & Professional Accounting (MMPA) Program of the Institute for Management & Innovation (IMI) was renewed for an additional five-year period beginning 2021. Graduates will continue to receive advanced standing and be exempt from most of the 2-year CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP). MMPA graduates will move straight into Capstone 2, the final module of the CPA PEP, and then on to the CPA Common Final Exam (CFE).
The MMPA programs accredited are as follows:
- Both the 24-month and 27-month MMPA programs; and
- The 12-month MMPA program for students from the B.Com, Accounting Specialist Program from University of Toronto, Mississauga, and from substantially equivalent programs at U of T St. George, Scarborough, and other Canadian universities.
Accreditation is based on the overall educational experience (i.e. knowledge, skills, and professionalism) provided to CPA students. In regard to the 12-month MMPA Program, the CPA Ontario Council has agreed to accredit the educational experience for students drawn from the following U of T programs: UTM’s B. Com, Accounting Specialist; Rotman’s B. Com, Accounting Specialist; and UTSC’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Specialist in Management and Accounting; or from other Canadian University programs deemed to be equivalent.
Thanks are due to all faculty and staff members from all three campuses who worked very hard on the accreditation renewal documents and process. This accreditation will allow us to continue to attract great undergraduate and graduate students, and faculty to the University of Toronto. It also positions the University of Toronto as a leading school in professional accounting education.
