Admissions

Admission decisions are based on an analysis of academic strength, leadership ability, experience, professionalism, and ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Applicants admitted into the Master of Management & Professional Accounting program must have:

  • a mid-B average in the final year of a four-year bachelor's degree
  • a satisfactory score on Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), if applicable*
  • a satisfactory score on English Proficiency Test (if required)

* Please note the GRE is not accepted for admittance to MMPA.

One Year MMPA

The One Year MMPA will put you on a fast-track path to leadership armed with business and accounting expertise.  The One Year MMPA program is designed excluslively for students with an undergraduate degree specializing in accounting. Two Year MMPA

Question

Is the MMPA Program available on a part-time basis?

Answer

No, the MMPA Program is offered on a full-time basis only.

Is the MMPA degree awarded by the University of Toronto?

Answer

Yes.

 

Question

Are MMPA classes referred to by the year that students are accepted into the Program or the year that students graduate?

Answer

MMPA classes are referred to by the year that students will graduate.  For example, Class 2020 refers to the class that will graduate in the year 2020.

 

Question

Are applicants accepted based only on their academic marks and their GMAT result?

Answer

No, academic marks and the GMAT are very important but applicants are also assessed on other factors.  We are looking for a combination of academic ability and evidence of leadership ability.

 

Question

Which admission requirement is given higher priority - GMAT, grades, essay?

Answer

All of these requirements are important and are each evaluated independently of each other.  

 

Question

Is it recommended that I take introductory courses in finance and accounting prior to entering the Program?

Answer

No, the Program begins with the basics and is designed for students that have not studied business before. We only recommend that you refresh your math skills if you have not taken a math course recently.  

 

Question

Does your program accept non-degree students?  I am interested in taking certain courses of your Program to fulfill the requirements of the CA designation.

Answer

The MMPA Program does not admit non-degree students. 

 

Question

Do you need to have full-time work experience after completing your bachelor's degree?

Answer

No, you do not require previous work experience. We do accept students directly from undergraduate studies.
