Belal Raifai, Class of 2018
The MMPA co-op program allowed me to apply theory learned in class into practice as well as gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the profession.
After completing my undergraduate studies in both Biology and Management at UTM, I pursued my Masters in Management and Professional Accounting to gain the technical expertise required to succeed in the business world.
I began my career in the Emerging Technology space, providing advisory services to clients around technologies such as Blockchain and Robotic Process Automation. After a few years, I started focusing more on Cloud technologies, assisting clients with their implementation, risk assessment and control optimization of Cloud ERP solutions. I am currently a Senior Associate at PwC Canada, working in the Digital Risk Solutions practice.
I attribute much of my success to MMPA. Within a short timeframe, the program equipped me with the necessary skills and experiences required to enter the workforce with a unique competitive advantage. Not only did MMPA provide high quality education through a strong curriculum, dedicated faculty, relevant case competitions and effective CFE prep, but it also provided me with the opportunity to build my network with some of the top firms in the world and develop lifetime connections. In addition, the MMPA co-op program allowed me to apply theory learned in class into practice as well as gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the profession.
I believe that one of the greatest aspects of MMPA is the opportunities it presents to aspiring students and the doors it opens in areas not restricted solely to accounting. Thanks to some of the IT related courses I had taken at MMPA, I was able to discover my niche and pursue a rewarding career in IT consulting.
