BIO

Len Brooks is Director of U of T’s Professional Accounting Centre, and its Master of Forensic Accounting Program, as well as the Academic Director of the Institute for Management & Innovation’s IMIx Executive Programs unit. He was also, for 23 years, the Director of the MMPA Program and its predecessor, the MBA in Professional Accounting Program. Len has been a Full Professor of Business Ethics & Accounting since 1987 and has successfully taught Business Ethics & Governance (MGT1202), Managerial Accounting (MGT1222), Management Control (MGT2260), and Accounting Theory & Research (MGT2280). 

An expert in accounting, forensics, governance and ethics, Len comments often on radio and TV.  His co-authored pioneering textbook, Business and Professional Ethics for Directors, Executives & Accountants, appeared in its ninth edition in 2020, and is widely used around the world.  His co-authored book, Ethics & Governance: Developing & Maintaining an Ethical Corporate Culture, has been used by both for-profit corporations and not-for-profit organizations as a foundation for their organizational development.

TEACHING & RESEARCH INTERESTS

Teaches courses in in Business and Professional Ethics Governance, Management Control,    Current Accounting Issues, Professional Affairs, Business Ethics for Managers, and Accounting Theory and Research. 

Research interests include Business Ethics, Management Control, Corporate Governance, Strategic Planning, Codes of Conduct, Ethics Audits and Ethical Assurance, Crisis Management, and Developing and Maintaining an Ethical Corporate Culture.
