The MMPA program has enabled me to continuously apply my skills through the knowledge I gained so I could continue advancing in this ever-evolving field.

After completing the MMPA program, I have seldom found it difficult to maintain my professional skepticism and think critically at work. The emphasis of teamwork at MMPA adequately prepared me for working in a team environment. Prior to enrolling in the MMPA program, I completed my Bachelor of Management in Accounting at the University of International Business and Economics in China. Since then, I have worked at small- and mid-size firms such as ENT LLP and MNP, as well as completed 8 certificates via online platforms. With the rapidly changing environment and astonishing advancement of technologies, time management has never been more important for accounting professionals – I received that valuable gift from MMPA. The MMPA program has enabled me to continuously apply my skills through the knowledge I gained, so I could continue advancing in this ever-evolving field. My experience at Dynacare as a Senior Financial Analyst was great – I was involved in a variety of tasks including financial reporting, tax and internal analysis and reporting. Essentially, what I did was ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data, extract information from that data, and deliver the information to the users to make more informed decisions. This helped ensure that money, equipment and material were in place to keep Dynacare's health care workers protected and paid while serving those in need during the pandemic. Being able to contribute my share on the finance team and to support our front-line workers to serve those in need during COVID-19 had made my life very meaningful. I have decided to pursue my accounting education further, and I am currently a PhD student at the University of Waterloo. My long-term goal is to become a professor and continue researching how and why different types of information lead to shifts in behaviour.
